"Euro-Lire Fusion"
Diptych, Acrylic on Canvas, 60" x 96"
The present merges with the past as the arched aqueduct taken from the ubiquitous Euro bill crosses left toward Italy's 100,00 lire note: the couple in "The Fortune Teller" and its creator, Caravaggio, indicate how the Italians valued their art, culture, and history. Western Europe has forged a new bond, but its countries have lost beautiful icons of daily life as the common currency pushes traditional money aside.
