This June I was in Provence, France for ten days with my family. I immersed myself in the light, the lavender, and the landscape. I was inspired by visiting Cezanne's studio in Aix-in-Provence. I loved seeing Van Gogh's Arles, and St. Remy, where he created some of his most famous paintings and drawings. All the fresh provencal wine and food filled the soul, too. I absorbed the wonderful landscape and sights, did drawing, and wrote poetry about my travels. I am sure that the inspiration of our stay will affect my painting this year.
Best wishes,

The work of New York artist Jenna Lash is focused on money. Her often oversized oil and acrylic paintings explore her ongoing fascination with international and American currency while reworking the formal aspects of familiar images. Some of the works are as large as 60 x 96 inches.
Numerous trips around the world have informed her aesthetic. The artist’s sophisticated pointillism brings creative attention to money’s beauty and symbolism and the larger-than-life portraits of national and international leaders mesmerize the viewer. In new contexts, complex layers of present and past tradition provide new insight into the meaning of currency, culture, and history.
However, Lash’s fresh, powerful artwork transcends its relevance to finance and history. Robert Kirsch, a former Columbia University Art History Professor and published art critic writes:
Lash’s works are of feeling as much as paintings of the external world, and as such breathe a fineness and sensitivity not often found in contemporary visual arts...There is in these paintings an aim for simplicity but also for multiplicity: of color, stoke, beat, meter….
Lash has had twelve solo shows in New York and has been selected for over thirty juried group exhibitions. She has a B.F.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut, an M.A. from New York University, and has studied at the American Academy in Rome.
Her work is collected by art patrons, corporations, law and accounting firms, foreign exchange and brokerage companies.. Lash resides in both Lower Manhattan and Northern Westchester.
